The walima is the wedding feast after the nikah, usually hosted by the groom's family, where the marriage is shared with everyone the couple knows. Guests come for the couple, the duas and the food. Wishes go in the card handed over at the stage, in the group chat after dinner, and under the first photo of the newlyweds seated together.

What do you say at a walima?
"Walima Mubarak" or "Mubarak ho" to the couple, with a short dua for their marriage. A word of thanks to the hosts for the dinner is good manners. If you could not attend the nikah, the walima is where you give your gift and your wishes.
Who hosts the walima?
Traditionally the groom and his family, after the nikah; it may be the same day, the next day or a few days later. It is a feast to share the news of the marriage, so the guest list is usually larger than the nikah’s.
