Which ceremonies does the muhurat calendar cover?
Weddings, griha pravesh, engagement (sagai), namkaran, mundan, bhoomi pujan or property purchase, and buying a vehicle. Each follows its own classical list of nakshatras, tithis, weekdays and closed seasons.
How are the dates calculated?
From the positions of the Sun and Moon at sunrise in New Delhi with the Lahiri ayanamsa. A date is listed only if part of the day carries an accepted nakshatra and an accepted tithi together, on an accepted weekday, outside the closed seasons.
Why does one ceremony have dates when another has none?
Each ceremony has its own rules. Chaturmas closes weddings and house warmings for about four months but not an engagement, a naming or a vehicle purchase. Venus and Jupiter must be visible only for a wedding.
