About the naming ceremony muhurat

Namkaran, the naming ceremony, is traditionally held on the eleventh or twelfth day after birth, or on the first good day after. Because a baby cannot wait four months, only the solar seasons are applied, Kharmas and adhik maas. The first syllable of the name usually comes from the baby's birth nakshatra.
