Porutham
The South Indian system of ten compatibility checks between two birth stars, used instead of the 36-point Guna Milan.
Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayali families traditionally match through the ten poruthams — dina, gana, mahendra, stree deergha, yoni, rasi, rasi adhipati, vasya, rajju and vedha — each scored as a pass or fail rather than in points. Rajju porutham is often treated as essential.
The poruthams overlap with the Ashtakoota kootas in what they measure but weigh them differently, so a couple can pass one system and score modestly on the other.
