Birth Announcement Wishes

A birth announcement goes two ways: the parents send a line with the name, the date and the weight, and everyone sends a line back. Both are below. The announcement goes on the card, in the family group and on Instagram with the first photo; the replies come back within the hour, usually with a lot of hearts.

Lines for the parents to announce the baby

    WhatsApp
  • Our son arrived last night, loud and healthy. Mother and baby are resting; father is staring. Blessings welcome, visits from Sunday.

Questions people ask

What do you write in a birth announcement?

The essentials and one warm line: the baby’s name if you have chosen it, the date, the weight if you like sharing it, and that mother and baby are well. Add when visitors are welcome so nobody has to ask. Two or three sentences is plenty.

How do you reply to a birth announcement?

Congratulate both parents, say something kind about the news or the photo, and offer one concrete thing: food on Saturday, a visit next week, a call at any hour. Keep it short; the parents are reading fifty of these on no sleep.
